Getting started with amenities

Amenities are the things that make your accommodations unique and discoverable for guests, such as the number of bathrooms in group accommodations, a private jetty by the water, or the presence of a power point for a camping pitch. They can be made available as filterable options in your online Search & Book. Amenities can apply to an entire type, or only to a specific object.

Go to 'Amenities' in the organization settings to get started.

Amenities and amenity groups

All amenities need to categorized under an amenity group. These amenity groups will make it easier to add amenities to your types and objects, and also act as category headers for amenity filters in the Search & Book on your website.

An amenity group 'Kitchen' could contain various kitchen appliances. Amenities such as 'private parking' or 'patio' could be grouped under 'Outdoor area'.

Creating an amenity group

Because you need to select an amenity group when creating amenities, you need to start by creating these amenity groups. When doing so, think about the filter headers you want to show to your potential guests online.

Many commonly used amenities are set up by default and you can add more as required. Also think about creating an amenity that allows your guests to filter for types/objects where pets are allowed.

Two different kinds of amenity groups

  • Can be applied to types, objects, or administration: the amenities in this amenity group can be linked to a single object, an entire type, or even the administration as a whole. Most amenities will be of this type.

  • Can be applied to administration only: the amenities in this amenity group cannot be linked to objects or types. This would contain amenities that are available to every guest, such as a restaurant, swimming pool, or indoor playground.

Creating an amenity

There are several ways you can present an amenity, that make it easier to use a single amenity across multiple types. Create a numerical amenity for 'Beds' for instance, that allows you to input the appropriate number of beds when assigning it to a type. Or, create a multiple choice amenity for 'Balcony', that allows you to add 'Sea-view' and 'City-view' as possible options for this amenity.

From the overview of all amenities, you can specify multiple amenities at once to become available as filter options in your Search & Book.

Changing the display order of amenities

In the amenity group overview, drag and drop the items in the list. Open an amenity group to drag and drop the amenities within this group in the same way. This order will also be displayed in your Search & Book.
