Creating an amenity

Add an amenity to one of your amenity groups, and edit it to suit your needs. Choose how OTA's should classify this amenity, whether you want it to be included in the filter options in the Search & Book, and what type of amenity it is.

Go to 'Amenities' in the organization settings of your PMS. Either click '+New' to add a new amenity directly, or first open the relevant amenity group and add a new amenity there.

  1. Enter an appropriate name for your amenity.

  2. Select the most suitable amenity type that channels (OTAs) can classify this amenity under.

This is an important setting, as this classification (also called a semantic type) is how your integrated OTA’s recognize the amenities.

  3. Select the correct amenity group.

  4. Select the type of amenity, i.e. what answer types should be available.

    • Yes/No: these amenities are either present, or not present.

    • Numerical: When adding this amenity to a type or object, you have to enter the number of this amenity that is present. The amenity could be 'bed', and each time you add it to a type or object you have to indicate how many beds there are.

    • Multiple choice: Enter multiple options that represent variations of this amenity. When adding this amenity to a type or object, you have to select the correct option. The amenity could be 'sofa', and each time you add it to a type or object you have to indicate whether it is a 'two-seater' or a 'three-seater'.

  5. Activate the checkbox 'Use amenity as filter in Search & Book' if you want this amenity to become a filter option for your website visitors. If not, this amenity will only be displayed on the relevant type page.

  6. Activate the checkbox 'Amenity can be highlighted' to make it possible to highlight this amenity for any type it is linked to. Highlighted amenities are specified in the type settings.

When using this option, an icon is attached to the amenity based on the linked channel amenity, and a description can be added.

It is recommended to not make every amenity a filter option in your Search & Book, but only those that are popular and/or unique to only some of your types.
From the overview of all amenities, you can select multiple amenities at the same time to change this setting.

Next step: Applying amenities

Amenities can be applied a few different ways:

  1. As administration amenities: Do this for amenities that you want to publicize as available to any guest. Read more: Add amenities to an administration

  2. As a type amenity, or as an amenity connected to a specific object: Do this for amenities that help guests choose and filter accommodations when booking online. Read more: Add amenities to a type or object

  3. As part of a type floor plan: Do this to help guests visualize the accommodation layout and ensure smooth synchronization with OTAs such as Booking.com.

Deleting an amenity

An outdated amenity can be deleted. If it is still connected to type, object, or reservation, a notification will appear. If you choose to delete regardless, the amenity will be removed from the type and/or object.
